Long overdue so I’ll get right to it. I have purchased a Power 9 that is running IBM i and as I build this thing into an open source powerhouse, I’ll take you along for the journey. The first stop is getting the open source tools installed on IBM i. It could NOT be easier! Use to be you’d have to install a licensed program 5722-OPS. NOT anymore! Just fire up IBMi Access Client Solutions (easier to use than its awkward name….). Here are a few getting started videos to help you along:
- Part one just gets you started and gives a quick overview of the process
- Part two deals with getting the correct version of Access Client Solutions installed, if you haven’t already
- Part three focuses on installing the open source tools using the Open Source Package Management tool.
The goal here is to get you started. There is more detail on how to use each tool and language in my book, if you are interested. You will find it on Amazon. ENJOY!
